The Midcoast Babe Ruth League playoffs swung in on Wednesday, July 6 because the six-team, single-elimination postseason event was whittled to 4.

Within the quarterfinals on Wednesday, No. 3 Damariscotta Lions beat No. 6 Tidewater Oil 10-4 and No. 5 P.G. Willey beat No. 4 Granite Coast Orthodontics 6-3.

Thus, within the semifinals on Friday, July 8, No. 3 Damariscotta Lions will play at No. 2 Waldoboro, whereas No. 5 P.G. Willey will play at top-seeded Rockland Ford. The video games start at 5 p.m.

The winners of Friday’s video games will advance to the championship, set for Sunday, July 10 at 1 p.m. on the venue of the very best seed.

As well as, 15 gamers have been named to signify the Midcoast Babe Ruth League within the 13-15-year-old all-star event Friday to Sunday, July 15-17 in Sanford.

At Newcastle July 6, the defending league champions moved onto the semifinals with a six-run victory. The Lions plated one run within the first inning, three within the second, three within the fourth, two within the fifth and one within the sixth, whereas Tidewater Oil scored 4 runs within the sixth.

The Lions have been led on the dish by Kaden Bartrug (single, 2 runs, 3 stolen bases), Blake Grady (single, run), Carson Hallowell (2 singles, 4 steals, run), Lincoln Ball (single, run), Blake Gamage (2 singles, 2 runs, 2 steals), Forrest Storrer (2 singles, 2 runs, 4 steals) and Jayden Orne (run, steal).

For Tidewater Oil, Hayden Brimer (run, steal), Miles Tolliver (single, run), Stuart Knowlton (run) and Dawson Tripp (run) paced the offense.

Grady and Bartrug pitched for the Lions and allowed one hit, eight walks and 5 hit batters, with 15 strikeouts. Brimer and Knowlton pitched for Tidewater Oil and allowed 9 hits, 5 walks and two hit batters, with 9 strikeouts.

No. 5 P.G. Willey 6, No. 4 Granite Coast Orthodontics 3

At Rockport July 6, P.G. Willey doubled up GCO and superior to the following spherical of the playoffs. P.G. Willey plated thrice within the first inning, twice within the third and as soon as within the seventh, whereas GCO tallied single runs within the fourth, sixth and seventh.
