According to news agency PTI, the new foldable phones from Samsung will go on sale in India in September. This means that the two flagship phones from the company will take on Apple’s 2022 iPhones, iPhone 14 series. Apple is expected to launch iPhone 14 in September, and it is very likely that the phones go on sale in India the same month.
As for Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 launch in the US, the phones are going on sale in the country starting August 26. This means that Samsung is not launching the phones in India in the first wave. “All the devices including Fold 4 will be available in India from early September. Fold4 is the most premium device that Samsung has launched till date. Indian consumers may have to pay a little more for the Fold4 because of depreciation in the value of rupee against US dollar,” adds the report. Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold4 at $1,799 (Rs 1,42,700), while Galaxy Z Flip3 is priced at $999.
Along with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, the company also launched the Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Buds Pro and Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro smartwatches.
According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung captured 81 per cent market share in the Rs 1 lakh and above smartphone category in March 2022. Samsung’s ultra-premium device Galaxy S22 Ultra accounted for around 74 percent of the volume.
