Ek Villain Returns is the 12th biggest week one for John Abraham in a career spanning two decades. The film was amongst his Top-10 when it comes to the first day and the opening weekend. However, since the collections couldn’t hold as strong during the weekdays, it has slipped a bit, what with Parmanu – The Story of Pokharan, Madras Cafe, and Romeo Akbar Walter going over it.

Incidentally, each of these three films is a John Abraham solo starrer. On the other hand, what is uncanny is to observe that five of the John Abraham starrers are franchises. This isn’t all as in each of these films, he is in fact a new entrant in the second installment. These are Race 2, Welcome Back and Housefull 2, which rule right from the top, and then Shootout at Wadala and Ek Villain Returns. Wait, there is more. Satyameva Jayate features in the list too and this is a franchise that started with John Abraham. Unfortunately, the second installment didn’t do well at, and hence it doesn’t feature in the list.

Meanwhile, here is looking at how the first-week numbers have turned out to be for John Abraham starrers and where does Ek Villain Returns stand:

Race 2 – Rs. 76.10 crores
Welcome Back – Rs. 74.02 crores
Housefull 2 – Rs. 64.20 crores
