The Electrical Metropolis Tradition Council (EC3) is happy to announce the winners of this 12 months’s Bierk Artwork Fund Bursaries — Austin Bowie and Ashleigh Gillen. Every pupil will obtain a $1,000 bursary to pursue post-secondary research.

The Bierk Artwork Fund Bursary was established in honour of Liz and David Bierk, who had been champions of the native arts scene and passionate in regards to the significance of post-secondary schooling within the arts. The bursary program, developed and administered by EC3, helps younger artists in our neighborhood and is awarded to college students graduating highschool within the Metropolis or County of Peterborough.

Bowie is graduating from the Visible Arts Program at Thomas A. Stewart Secondary College and can examine visible arts on the Nova Scotia College of Artwork and Design in September.

“I need to pursue a profession within the arts and proceed learning arts,” says Bowie, “as a result of it’s my ardour and what makes me completely happy.
